pour ne rien effacer

Last one of the year at Brussels Tattoo Convention.  Depicting Jean and Sandrine's 20 years in love in this beautiful poem they wrote:

Jean and Sandrine together- sorry for the bad pic!

refugees welcome

Thank you to all those who purchased our Distant Homeland print and enabled us to deliver educational materials to this refugee camp in Vienna at Christmas time, as well as donations to important humanitarian organisations in Calais, Greece and Syria. Such a wonderful experience to interact with these beautiful, innocent children.  Let 2016 remind us that all humans are equal, and important, and are entitled to live in safety, dignity and happiness.

mother, mother

Depicting the tale of a Turkish journalist who, after falling in love with an Austrian woman and deciding she could not live without her, abandoned her life in Turkey where same-sex marriage is illegal to be with the one she loves. This happily married couple have now just given birth to their first born child and we wish them all the best as they begin their journey of motherhood together.

YES_SYR - A Marathon Performance

Last week we participated in the Yes-Syr- A Marathon Performace at Jan Arnold Gallery, Museums Quartier Vienna where Syrian artist Osama-El-Siamant and his collective produced euro bills for six hours per day, seven days a week to highlight the the economic relationships of power, dependence and exploitation. In a painfully subversive way they visualise the dilemma of labour bans the refugees must endure in receiving countries, the red tape and xenophobia that prevents them from starting a new life in spite of all they have suffered.

The bills can be purchased for nominal value with all proceeds going to humanitarian organisations providing unbureaucratic direct aid to refugees and internally displaced persons.
please see more at and

Through this powerful performance, the audience can connect and integrate with he artists on a personal level. Thanks to all the wonderful humans involved, we are proud to be a part of it.
Our works and many others can be purchased via the links above.

la dolce vita

La Dolce Vita expresses the wonderful life amongst plants and trees that woodland dwelling botanist Gavin has created for his family. Inspired by his love of the Vienna Secessionist art Period, we encapsulated his passions and talismans - poetry, wildflowers, the self-sufficiency of his permaculture garden and Goldfinches that carry the souls of lost loved ones.

'the love we give out is stronger than our own being. It makes me think of my Grandmother who I lost when I was a teenager, what survives of her is the love of plants that she engendered into me.  By the same token, the things that I have poured my love into will be the things that live after me; the trees I have nurtured and planted, and my two year old daughter Vita.'

What will survive of us is love.

"I thrive best hermit style,
With a beard and a pipe,
And a parrot on each side,
But now...
I can't do this without you"

Taken form Björk's beautiful Unison

The lyrics represent a touching journey from childhood loss and trauma and the process of recovery; from introspective anguish through to the gratitude and positivity of today, whilst still feeling as though the intensity of pure joy and pure sorrow make them very close emotions and that we are always in a fragile state.

human universe

In 2012 neuroscientist Sally sold all of her belongings and left everything she knew and loved  in Florida to move to England to pursue a PhD in neuroscience. Specialising in the hippocampus and its role in memory and navigation, one of the cell types focussed on are grid cells which play a major role in these abilities. Her future research will be on how these cells are affected by disease, such as Alzheimer's, and how to repair the damage and restore function through neurogenesis. Inspired by her youth of growing up near the Kennedy Space Centre, Sally kept her childhood dream of becoming an astronaut, now planning to further her research on our ability to orient ourselves and navigate through a place where gravity is absent, land marks are few and far between,  and cardinal directions (as we know them) don't really apply and how this could effect long distance space travel.

boundless perspective

Seaman Yiannis told us of the hardships and heartache endured whilst out to sea.

One day however, as his vessel was anchored outside the port of Valencia, he saw the whole city covered in fireworks. Watching the city burst into colour from a vessel 8 miles out to sea, brought the realisation that not a single person at that moment was either looking, thinking or even aware of their existence out there. That was the moment he gained a whole new perspective.

"Every single thing in this life can be seen, observed, thought, examined from infinite angles and points of view. Even if it is an object, a sight, a story, a person, an idea, the life itself. The world we live in has about 7 billion different realities, each for every person, each with its own colours and each as equal. Everything is relative."

This is Yiannis' philosophy of life and will serve as a reminder of his inner strength during his next voyage.
